UntaxMe Privacy Policy

UntaxMe is designed to help independent workers and self-employed users track income, expenses, and estimated taxes. Some app features work only when you create an account and connect financial data.

Information we collect

If you create an account, we collect account information such as your email address, password hash, name, timezone, locale, and account security settings.

If you use tax-planning features, we may store your filing status, prior-year tax amount, category choices, and other tax-profile inputs needed to calculate estimates.

If you connect a bank account through Plaid, we may receive and store linked account identifiers, institution details, transaction data, transaction categories, and sync metadata needed to provide tax tracking features.

If you subscribe to UntaxMe Pro, we may store entitlement state, trial status, subscription metadata, and purchase-validation records.

How we use information

We use your information to:

• Create and secure your account
• Connect and maintain linked financial accounts
• Import, categorize, and sync transactions
• Calculate estimated tax payments and export reports
• Provide subscription, billing, and purchase-restore features
• Send product and reminder notifications if you enable them

Third-party services

UntaxMe uses Plaid to help you connect financial accounts. Plaid provides the account-linking flow and may process information according to its own privacy policy.

If you purchase a subscription through Apple App Store or Google Play, those platforms process your payment information. UntaxMe does not receive your full payment card details.

We may also use service providers for hosting, database storage, notification delivery, and purchase validation.

Notifications and device security

If you enable reminders or notifications, we may store push-token and notification-preference data needed to send supported alerts.

If you enable biometric or device authentication, biometric matching is handled by your device operating system. UntaxMe does not collect or store your biometric template data.

Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only as needed to operate the service, such as with Plaid, cloud providers, purchase-validation providers, or when required by law.

Data retention

We retain account and service data for as long as needed to operate UntaxMe, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify personal data except where retention is legally required.

Account deletion

You can delete your account in the app from Settings > Delete Account. You can also review deletion instructions at /delete-account.

Children's privacy

UntaxMe is not intended for children under 13.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as UntaxMe evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the date shown at the top of this page.
